The Symphony Medical approach

Symphony Medical, Inc. has successfully invented safe, cost-effective biologic products that utilize proprietary biopolymers to treat patients with rhythm disturbances and chronic heart failure through non-destructive (non-ablative) means. Proprietary biopolymers are injected directly into specific locations of the heart during open chest surgery or via a minimally invasive procedure employing catheter-based or robotics-based cardiac delivery devices.
Symphony Medical's biopolymers are designed specifically to elicit desirable therapeutic responses. To illustrate, one biopolymer is designed to provide significant strength but biodegrade rapidly in order to interrupt signal conduction in epicardial ganglionated plexi (nerve relays) for a period of a few days. To contrast, in cardiac repair, the biopolymers must fulfill a long term function while remaining compliant and maintaining a pre-determined strength.

The Company's expertise and technology are being developed in close collaboration with world-class physicians and scientists from institution such as The Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic Rochester, University of California, San Francisco, and others. As a matter of daily routine and strategic discipline, Symphony Medical combines the know-how of clinical research experts in electrophysiology and heart failure with biopolymer and tissue engineering scientists as well as engineers designing novel cardiac delivery tools.
